About

Some say  Artists don’t have a choice in making art, they must. Being an educator, I have somewhat of an academic outlook. Still, I take photographs because what I see draws meaning as something poetic or exciting, a window into the world I am witnessing. And I don’t want to miss out on that. I appreciate the pureness of straight photography, but I am also drawn to the excitement of adding textures and inventing an imagined history of a place. I practice both types of photography, straight documentary, and post-capture manipulation. I court a mysterious place or nostalgic feeling in my images. All art allows us to connect with the world in meaningful ways. Connection through a memory a mood, or an undefined sense of something else is what I venture. Art makes us feel good, whether we are making it or appreciating it. Art heals and brings us joy.
